When It Will Be Your Turn
To Be A Princess...
31th January 2019
The making of a tiara is definitely an art: it has to be wide but tight enough to your head, rigid but not too heavy, and has to be delicate and elegant to sublimate your pretty face. Just to make things a little bit more complicated, let’s add the necklace versatility! The transformation of a tiara into a necklace, or even brooches and bracelet, is a true challenge for jewelers: structure, flexibility, clasps and much more need to be thought twice. The complex mechanism needs to allow the wearer to turn the arc of the jewel in order to adapt to its head or neck.
I would like to emphasize the amazing work that has been done for these jewels to be worn either as a diadem or as a necklace.

Ocean Tiara & Necklace by Van Cleef & Arpels
My love for water environment definitely raises my interest and admiration for the beautiful Ocean Tiara & Necklace by Van Cleef & Arpels. Created in 2011 to celebrate the long relationship with Monaco’s Principality, the versatile headpeace gathers 1200 gems including sapphires and diamonds, reaching 70 carats.
There are 11 pear-cut diamonds, which the central and biggest one is an extraordinary D, IF of 4.01 carats. These diamonds seem to be embraced by the waves composed of 883 brilliant-cut diamonds and 359 brilliant-cut sapphires varying in three hues of blue.
This incredible work presents beautiful sparkling curves that are rolling over the diadem recreating the enchanting sea’s rhythm.
H. R. S. Princess Charlene of Monaco wore several times the masterpiece as a necklace as well as a tiara.

Royal Pearl Tiara by Cartier
The following outstanding convertible tiara is a real masterpiece from Cartier. Creativity and crafts have been pushed to offer a unique high jewellery piece at the Biennale des Antiquaires in 2014. Part of the Cartier Royal Collection, the Royal Tiara presents an impressive amount of precious materials:
-42 Natural colorful pearls are lining the tiara’s structure creating a gradation of pastel colors, from green and blue to pink, purple, and orange.
-An important natural and valuable pearl of 166.18 grains weighting 8.03grams, is hanging at the center of the piece. Not only its size is impressive, but its symmetry, drop shape and satiny luster are also synonym to perfection. This extremely rare pearl has belonged to the Queen Mary of England, which adds a unique historical background to the piece.
Furthermore, this pearl can also be detached from the main body and be worn separately as a pendant.
-A noticeable cushion-cut diamond of 5.01 carats is set just above the pearl to accentuate its brightness.
-Hundreds of cushion and brilliant-cut diamonds of various sizes are composing the tiara’s delicate curls.
The texture, color and size contrasts between diamonds and pearls perfectly balance the gracious and elegant tiara. When worn as a necklace, the central pearl seems to have sparkling spread wings, ready to take flight.

Splendeur de Russie Tiara by Boucheron
For its Reves d’Ailleurs Collection in 2014, Boucheron revealed a refined tiara, versatile in necklace. The white gold curved lines support bezel-set diamonds that seem to float like snowflakes. The Splendeur de Russie diadem presents two snowy arches which are joining in the center almost linking their delicate branches together. This apparent light high jewellery piece still gathers 538 diamonds for a total of 40 carats. The first row of the diadem is made of baguette-cut diamonds while the other diamonds are brilliant-cut of various sizes. About 540 hours of work where needed to bring this tiara to life.
The purity and air structure of the creation definitely emphasize femininity and grace. With this jewel, Boucheron is embracing the cold and eternal Russian winter, where nature is frozen in its fragility.

Hyperbole Tiara by Cartier
Another Cartier’s masterpiece! I had to present this tiara, convertible into necklace, for its impressive emerald cabochon. The cushion shape emerald weights 140.21 carats, with this size, it is a very important and rare stone coming from Colombia. The attention is focused on the deep mint color of the emerald and its fascinating “garden” of inclusions.
The minimalist white gold structure plays on the quite unusual geometrical design: trapezoids composed of brilliant-cut diamonds totaling 4.58 carats.
This opulent jewel is a statement piece of the Cartier Résonnances High Jewellery Collection, unveiled in 2017.

Bespoke Tiara & Necklace by NOA Fine Jewellery
For this piece, NOA got her inspiration from nature and romanticism, combined with a playful spirit. This daring tiara seems to represent the blooming flowers during springtime.
When worn as a necklace, the sparkling branches remind of the delicate and colorful wisteria: the variation of pink and purple colors are beautifully presenting the hues of petals.
The white gold mounting supports brilliant-cut diamonds for a total of 28.50 carats, as well as 36 carats of pink sapphires. The 9 largest stones are pear-cut morganites (18.50 carats) that vary from deep red and bloody orange, to dark purple.
This high creation would bring dynamism, joy and elegance to any lady wearing it.
